PPF Pension Fund is to secure a contractor to construct a 239bn/- water front development project in Ununio, Kinondoni Municipality—Dar es Salaam.

The project is expected to kick off this August and the contractor will undertake construction of includes shopping malls, hotels, apartments and other areas for business.

Godbless Robian PPF Senior Investment Officer said in Dar es Salaam yesterday at the wrapping up of a weeklong public service exhibition which took place at the Mnazi Mmoja grounds.

According to the officer, already the feasibility study for the construction of the project has been commissioned and upon completion, the business centre is expected to be among the top shopping complexes in the entire East African Community (EAC) bloc.

“As part of its ongoing investment plans, the Fund is also constructing over 500 house for its members in Mwanza’s Kiseke area,” Robian said.

In another development, PPF has allocated 20bn/- to be dished out among Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (Saccos) members.

John Mwalisu PPF Chief Manager Pensions and Member Services said the fund has been paying about 5bn/- monthly to 29,000 pensioners.

He seized the opportunity to announce the days for paying pension have been reduced to five days down from two months.

“The reduction in days to pay pensions is been due to introduction of Member Administration System (MAS) that simplifies procedures previously done manually,” he said.

“The public service week has offered opportunity to meet our clients as well as to register new members... we want our customers to get better services,” he added.

Speaking at the exhibition, a Dar es Salaam resident Consolata Rumisha expressed concern over the few number of people who turned up for the exhibition and urged better publicity be done in future.

“Unlike last year,” she said “...this year there were no participants from the other EAC member states and few people took interest of this important public service week exhibitions,” she decried notably however, over 80 government agencies and organisations participated in the exhibition.
