President Kikwete shakes hands with CRDB Managing
Director Dr Charles Kimei, as he receives a 100 million/- cheque at
State House in Dar es Salaam yesterday to help the flood victims in
Mvomero.
At the short hand over event held yesterday in Dar es Salaam (see side photo) the president again referred to the floods as a national disaster noting that the victims need food, healthcare and shelter.
The president bid the all well wishers to assist the government by providing the much needed aid from different people, organizations and institutions to assist the victims.
The Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Policy, Coordination and Parliamentary Affairs, William Lukuvi said that the new floods evaluation has indicated that people who were affected by the floods have reached 9,268.
For his part, CRDB Managing Director Charles Kimei said that the amount the bank has donated is part of 850m/- one percent of the profit set aside to support the society’s activities.
The hardest hit districts are Kilosa, Mvomero and Gairo.
