Airtel Tanzania has launched efficient and cost
effective UNI Wi-Fi service that will enable students in institutions of
higher learning access high speed internet services at affordable
rates.
Speaking during the launch of the service at St Augustine
University (SAUT) Mwanza, Airtel Lake Zonal Sales Manager Daudi Dada
said:
“Airtel UNI Wi-Fi service is designed to provide students with
affordable high speed internet to enable them carry out research
and access a wide range of academic information."
He said the internet is no longer a luxurious facility but a vital
component in social and economic development for various communities.
The internet is of late more important for those in pursuit of knowledge in academic establishments and other institutions.
"Today we are profoundly happy to enable the SAUT community have
easy and reliable access to high speed internet at affordable cost
through UNI Wi-Fi," Daudi stressed.
Airtel UNI Wi-Fi Marketing Manager, Aneth Muga, said “Airtel UNI
Wi-Fi is part of our continued efforts aimed at promoting Airtel
strategy to enhance easy access to internet to students. Late last year,
Airtel Tanzania launched UNI 255 Voucher at various colleges through
which provides bundles with data, SMS, and talk-time in very competitive
rates compared to other bundles offered."
“Today Airtel UNI Wi-Fi Vouchers will be available 24-hours,
weekly, monthly and all night bundles. Imagine! One can enjoy 1 GB
bundle for as low as 500 shillings only,’’said Muga.
“ What is needed is to be in possession of a Wi-Fi compatible
device such as a smartphone, laptop, tablet, camera and printer
that will connected irrespective of the network you are using,”she
explained. “Today we are starting with SAUT on Airtel Wi-Fi but our
goal is to scale up the programme to all colleges throughout the
country," said Muga.
For his part, SAUT Dean of Student Liberatus Ndegeulaya said: "We
highly grateful to Airtel Tanzania for launching this friendly service
here. I am confident that the service will enhance learning achievements
at this institution. I call upon all students to utilise this service
effectively and get maximum benefits."
The president of the Students' Government, Sogone Wambura also
urged colleagues to make full use of the service in learning and always
keep abreast with global technological dynamics in their scholarly
pursuits.
