United man and says he is able to remain playing at the top
level due to his great technique and footballing intelligenceArsene Wenger has warned his Arsenal side that Dimitar Berbatov remains a "terrific striker" ahead of the Gunners’ Champions League clash with Monaco on Wednesday.
The Bulgarian spent eight years in the Premier League with Tottenham, Manchester United and Fulham before leaving for Ligue 1 in January 2014.
Berbatov has scored seven goals for Monaco this season and Wenger has warned his side that the striker will pose a threat when the two sides meet for their last 16 clash.
"Is he on the decline? I am not sure. He is a terrific striker. He is 34 and still playing at the top level and not many players can do that," he told reporters.
"He has been able to stay at the top because he has got such great technique. He can fall back on his technical work when he runs out of puff.
"He's not as fit as he was ten years ago but he makes up for that with his intelligence and his football brain."
Wenger also underlined the importance of Arsenal learning from past mistakes in Europe as they seek to qualify for the quarter-finals.
"In the last four years we always came out frustrated because three times we conceded a goal at home in the first 30 minutes," he added.
"That goal knocked us out. It was really tight. We have learnt from that and we can show that on Wednesday."
