Premier League Team of the Week: Tottenham dominate in wind-swept gameweek

Tottenham dominate our team this midweek following their fine 4-0 win at Newcastle, a number of below-par performances from other clubs and a couple of postponed matches due to the adverse weather around the United Kingdom on Wednesday.

There is fierce competition for the goalkeeper gloves this week, with Cardiff City's David Marshall and West Ham's Adrian both putting in four-star, top-of-the-match winning performances on Tuesday, while Hugo Lloris was key for Tottenham 24 hours later.

STAR MAN: PAULINHO

RATING VS NEWCASTLE A menace to the Newcastle defence all evening as he lurked behind Adebayor, looking to link up with the striker. Managed to do just that on many occasions - not least when he scored Tottenham's second goal. FROM OUR LIVE! COMMENTARY GOAL!! Paulinho puts Tottenham 2-0 up! Krul fails to collect Adebayor's shot from range, parrying the ball right back in to the danger area with the Brazil international able to tap it home with the second attempt.

The decision goes to Adrian (4), who kept out Norwich City with a number of fine saves before the Hammers nicked a vital victory late on.

Southampton's Calumn Chambers (4) gets the right-back spot after a fine performance at Hull. James Collins (3) and Laurent Koscielny (4) make up the centre-back partnership: Collins was dependably solid as the Hammers beat Norwich, thanks in no small part to his late header, while Koscielny just about edges out his Arsenal team-mate Per Mertesacker after both men did a fine job of keeping Robin van Persie quiet after the Dutchman wasted a great opportunity presented to him by Mikel Arteta early on.

Kieran Gibbs (3.5) gets the left-back spot after dealing well with Antonio Valencia and providing Olivier Giroud with a number of crosses.

The majority of rest of the team is composed of Tottenham players after they picked up a vital win in the race for the top four.

Etienne Capoue (4) and Steven Gerrard (4) form the double-pivot. Spurs' Frenchman controlled the centre of midfield and served as a springboard for his side's attack on Wednesday; Gerrard, meanwhile, set up Daniel Sturridge with a world-class pass, before netting a last-minute penalty to move the Reds to within four points of first place.

Two more Spurs players provide the attacking thrust from midfield, with Paulinho (4.5) and Nabil Bentaleb (4) helping tear Newcastle to shreds at St James' Park.  All three Spurs midfielders are making their debuts in the Premier League Team of the Week.

Adebayor (4) is one of the strikers in our XI after he scored twice against the Magpies to justify his continued selection by Sherwood.

Balotelli is not fragile, warns Simeone

The Argentine believes the AC Milan star can decide matches on his own and his display of emotion in the loss to Napoli last week was not a sign of weakness

The Italy interantional was pictured crying after being substituted in the 3-1 loss to Napoli last week but the Argentine insists the 23-year-old has the talent to decide a match single-handedly.

"Balotelli is a player who is in a position to win games by himself," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I don't think he is fragile, he's someone who just shows his feelings to others. For me, Milan are a strong team with a great club behind them who will try to do everything possible against us. We must be careful."

Simeone has led Atleti to a wave of success since taking charge of the club in late 2011 but refused to rule out coaching another of his former sides, Inter, in the future.

"It's true that Inter were good to me and I had a great adventure there," he continued.

"But I'd beat Milan mainly for Atletico. Right now I'm very happy here in Spain. In the future, we'll see if there's a chance I can coach Inter.

"I imagine the fans would appreciate me."

Milan and Atletico face each other at San Siro on February 19 before the second-leg clash in the Spanish capital on March 11.

Wenger must cure Arsenal nerves or end up trophyless again

After they were thrashed at Anfield the Gunners' manager admitted his side suffered from stage fright during their bore draw against struggling Manchester United at the Emirates

Belief, like a reputation, is difficult to gain but remarkably easy to lose.

On Saturday morning, ahead of their trip to Anfield, Arsenal and their fans carried justifiable belief that this might just be their season.

Fast-forward to Wednesday night, and that confidence had almost completely dissipated. Instead, there were howls of derision at the Emirates as Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny formed little passing triangles inside their own half, rather than go for Manchester United's jugular.

It was fair to say that belief had deserted the club as swiftly as their reputation for defensive parsimony had gone south with the 5-1 thrashing at Liverpool just four days previously.

The grumbles from the Arsenal fans had more to do with a fear that this was the case of a team reverting towards the mean, a support base readying themselves for disappointment.

There are widely considered to be seven stages of grief, and in the space of just a few days Arsenal's fans seem to have gone through shock and denial (phase one), pain and guilt (two) and are stationed firmly in anger and bargaining (phase three).

The next is depression and it could well be that both Liverpool and Bayern Munich, both of whom are rampant at present, could provide those in the FA Cup and Champions League within the next seven days.

VIEW FROM THE EMIRATES

By Declan Taylor Who would have thought, out of Wednesday's game, that this would be the dud? Manchester United, although their performance was abject, will be happiest with this point away from home. Arsenal attacked for most of the second half but just could not find a way through. They have now taken one point from their last two in the league – and must now welcome Liverpool to the Emirates in the FA Cup on Sunday. It really is crunch time for the Gunners.

Yet the situation is still potentially salvageable, as Arsene Wenger was at pains to point out post-match.

"We have come out of two difficult games and we are still in a strong position," said the Frenchman after a goalless draw that left Arsenal just a point behind leaders Chelsea.

"That is the only positive. We had two bad results but we are still in a position where we can do it."

Of more concern to fans, however, was Wenger's acknowledgement that his team had been "nervous" after their hammering at Anfield. Title-winners are not supposed to be wracked with self-doubt. Patrick Vieira did not feel nervous. Didier Drogba never seemed nervous. Roy Keane, to misappropriate his comment about Sir Alex Ferguson and loyalty, 'doesn't know the meaning of the word'.

Yet Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and the rest were, according to Wenger.

"I felt we were nervous, yes," he acknowledged. "It is not worrying as we care about what we do and when you concede five like we did on Saturday, we are only human beings.

"That is always what you get. After the game [where you concede a number of goals] you often don't score as the team was highly focused not to concede today.

"It was important not to lose of course but also not to win. We are a bit short of goals at the moment. You could see mathematically we lost goalscorers with Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey. At the moment in games like that you see that."

And that is part of the problem as these are failings Arsenal fans have become all too familiar with.

It starts with an injury – for Eduardo in 2008 read Theo Walcott in 2014 – and swiftly leads to a fatigued squad trying desperately to stay afloat.here are other options available to Wenger, and that he chose to make only one substitution was surprising on Wednesday night, particularly with Lukas Podolski, Nicklas Bendtner and Yaya Sanogo all offering similar attributes to a clearly struggling Olivier Giroud.

Wenger will claim defensive resilience was key, and he has learnt from the late defeat to Borussia Dortmund when Arsenal conceded after pushing for a victory, but he needed to look past the name and realise a club in seventh place that was devoid of confidence simply had to be beaten.

Arsenal have taken just nine points out a possible 24 against sides in that top seven, and they still have trips to Stamford Bridge, White Hart Lane and Goodison Park to come.

That said, the next three league games are against Sunderland, Stoke and Swansea. Win those three and who knows? After all, Wenger's men have been excellent flat-track bullies so far this season.

It is impossible, however, to avoid the feeling that things are starting to unravel, that the club are beginning to pay for not purchasing a proven, quality alternative to Giroud – "he did fight very hard and if he keeps that attitude he will score," was Wenger's take on his fellow countryman – and may rue not spending in January.

There is also the underlying fear that Chelsea and Manchester City, in particular, will be much improved next season and that a chance such as this may not come around again in the near future.

Arsenal could yet surprise us all, as they have for much of the season to date.

IKIWA imetimia mwaka mmoja na miezi kadhaa tangu kifo cha mumewe, Juma Kilowoko ‘Sajuki’, staa wa filamu za Kibongo, Wastara Juma, Jumamosi iliyopita amedaiwa kufanya jaribio la kutaka kujiua kwa kunywa sumu, Risasi Mchanganyiko limefuatilia tukio hilo hatua kwa hatua.

KABLA YA YOTE
Awali, staa huyo ambaye amepitia mitihani mingi, alitundika picha katika Mtandao wa Kijamii wa Instagram na kulalamika kuumwa tumbo.
Katika maelezo aliyoyaandika sambamba na picha hiyo, Wastara alimshukuru msanii mwenzake, Tamrina Poshi ‘Amanda’ kwa msaada aliompatia kwa kuwa alikuwa katika hali mbaya.
SUMU YATAJWA
Siku chache baada ya kuweka picha hiyo, Risasi Mchanganyiko lilipata kisa kizima kupitia kwa chanzo chake makini kuwa staa huyo alisumbuliwa na maumivu ya tumbo baada ya kuokolewa katika jaribio lake la kutaka kukatisha uhai wake kwa kunywa sumu.
SUMU ILIYOTUMIKA
Inadawa kuwa Wastara aliamua kunywa vidonge aina ya fragile kwa kuchanganya na pombe kwa lengo la kukatisha uhai wake ili kuondokana na manyanyaso anayoyapa kutoka kwa baadhi ya watu.
HAUSIGELI AOKOA JAHAZI
Inadaiwa kuwa wakati staa huyo akiwa chumbani kwa lengo la kujiua, msaidizi wa kazi ‘hausigeli’ aliingia chumbani humo kwa nia ya kufanya usafi ndipo alipomkuta Wastara akiwa analia huku amejiinamia.
“Hausigeli alijaribu kumuuliza sababu ya kilio chake lakini Wastara hakumjibu kitu, aliendelea kulia bila kikomo,” kilisema chanzo hicho.
Inadaiwa kuwa baada ya kutojibiwa kitu, hausigeli huyo alitoka na kumfuata Amanda ambaye alikuwa katika chumba kingine na kumweleza hali aliyomkuta nayo Wastara chumbani humo.
AMANDA APATWA NA MSHTUKO
Baada ya kuingia chumbani kwa Wastara, Amanda alipatwa na mshtuko mkubwa alipomkuta shoga’ke akiwa na baadhi ya vidonge mkononi na kumuuliza kisa cha kutaka kumeza vidonge hivyo.
“Wastara alimwongopea Amanda kwamba vidonge hivyo ni kwa ajili ya kujitibia mguu wake lakini Amanda hakukubaliana na maelezo hayo baada ya kuiona chupa ya bia iliyokuwa pembeni, kwa kuwa anafahamu Wastara siyo mnywaji wa pombe, ndipo  alipobaini lengo lake la kutaka kujiua,” chanzo kiliendelea kushusha data hizo.
Chanzo hicho kimesema kuwa Amanda alimpatia huduma ya kwanza shoga’ake huyo kwa kumnunulia maziwa na kumpeleka katika dispensari ya karibu ili kupata matibabu zaidi ya kuondoa sumu ya vidonge alivyovimeza.
SABABU ZA KUTAKA KUJIUA
Kwa mujibu wa chanzo kingine cha habari, Wastara alitaka kukatisha uhai wake kutokana na kuchoka kunyanyapaliwa, kudhalilishwa na kutongozwa mara kwa mara na wanaume, hali ambayo imekuwa ikimfedhehesha mbele ya jamii.
Chanzo hicho kimesema kwamba kabla ya tukio hilo, Wastara alikuwa akilalamika kudhalilishwa na watu anaowadai fedha zake ambao hawataki kumlipa haki yake.
“Kuna watu wengi ambao Wastara anawadai lakini wanamsumbua kwa kumuona ni mwanamke asiye na nguvu na wengine wanatumia mwanya huo kumtongoza, mwenyewe anaamini haya yote yanatokea kwa kuwa Sajuki hayupo,” kimetoboa chanzo hicho.
Habari zaidi zinadai kwamba hivi sasa Amanda anaendelea kumwekea ulinzi wa karibu Wastara ili asiweze kuchukua uamuzi mbaya wa kukatisha maisha yake.
Baada ya kuyapata madai hayo, mwandishi wetu alimpigia simu Wastara ili kupata undani wa tukio hilo lakini kwa muda mrefu simu yake ilikuwa ikiita bila ya kupokelewa.
Jumapili iliyopita Risasi Mchanganyiko lilimtafuta Amanda ili kuweza kupata ukweli  wa madai hayo na kumuuliza kama bado yupo kwa Wastara.

“Wastara amepatwa na matatizo, kwa kuwa ni rafiki yangu ambaye aliwahi kunisaidia siku za nyuma niko naye kumfariji…” alisema Amanda.

Risasi Mchanganyiko: Wewe uko kwa Wastara tangu lini?
Amanda: Nina muda kiasi kwa kuwa kuna kazi tulikuwa tunataka kufanya.
Baada ya kuachana na Amanda, jioni ya Jumapili iliyopita Risasi Mchanganyiko lilimtafuta tena kupitia simu yake ya kiganjani Wastara na kumpata.

Hata hivyo, upande wa pili wa simu haukuwa tena hewani, mlio wa kukatika kwa simu hiyo ulisikika.
Jitihada za kumpigia simu Wastara ziliendelea lakini  hazikuweza kuzaa matunda kwani iliita bila ya kupokelewa na baada ya muda simu yake haikuwa ikipatikana tena.
TUJIKUMBUSHE
Mwaka 2008, Wastara kabla ya kufunga ndoa na Sajuki alipata ajali  ya pikipiki iliyosababisha kukatwa mguu na kuwekwa mguu wa bandia.
Mwaka 2009, Wastara na Sajuki walifunga ndoa ya kihistoria na kuwavutia watu wengi.
Lakini Januari 2, 2013, staa huyo alipata pigo la kufiwa na mumewe huyo baada ya kumuuguza kwa muda mrefu na kuzua simanzi kwa watu wengi.

Katika mahojiano hayo, Salha aliwekwa mtu kati ambapo alifafanua ishu hiyo pamoja na mambo mengine ndani na nje ya urembo, bila kusahau tasnia ya sinema ambayo kwa sasa ameingia kwa miguu miwili.
