Warioba pounds CCM aspirants as unfit
Retired Prime Minister Joseph Warioba talks at the inauguration of Ethics Restoration Agenda organised by Christian Professionals of Tanzania held at Msimbazi Centre in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
Former Chairman of the Constitutional Review Commission (CRC), Judge Joseph Warioba, has warned Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) presidential aspirants to stop proclaiming themselves as untainted people but leave the decision to the public because their history was on record.
He was speaking during the launch of moral campaign dubbed, “the ethics restoration agenda” organised by the United Catholic Professionals in the country (CPT) in Dar es Salaam yesterday, that aims to restore integrity to the country leaders following their recent immoral escrow practices.

Judge Warioba said all CCM presidential aspirants lack the qualities of leadership contrary to their claims.

He said it was worrying that such aspirants touts themselves by deceiving the public as having all the qualities of integrity and leadership.

“I am surprised to hear cheap publicity from presidential aspirants as being faithful with leadership qualities.

They should leave that for the public to judge because they know aspirants with reputation and those who lack,” he said.

He added, “The task of analyzing who is honest and fit for the position should remain to be the public, they understand corrupt and uncorrupt leaders”.

According to him, the country has witnessed a difficult period moral decline, with corruption reigning in every sector of economy caused by few elite  officials in power leaving the majority public reeling in poverty.

“We had included the law which prohibits officials from receiving gifts, keeping their money abroad and engaging in business in the first proposed constitution draft after realizing that a leader that good ethical practices were prerequisite if the country is to move forward,” he said.

The former judge also said a good leader cannot benefit oneself from public property as the majority of his citizens languish in poverty.

Nevertheless, Prof Beda Mutaganywa said for decades the unity and solidarity of the country has been strained and cause cracks threatening threatened the peace and tranquility.

Prof Mutaganywa said the integrity of the people has been lost due to their involvement in corruption scandals and embezzlement of public money for their personal gains.

“Many civil servants have also been involved in practices that violate human rights and are left without legal measure.

The newly campaign will use a detailed discussion within communities in creating a new society dwelling on personality, responsibility and love for everyone.
