Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:

    Additional Information:
    The duration of internships is limited to a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of six months. No remuneration of any kind is offered, nor are any travel or subsistence expenses covered. Interns must provide proof of adequate health insurance; UNAIDS will provide accident insurance coverage only. Persons with immediate family members employed by the UNAIDS Secretariat are not eligible for internships.

In partnership with Aviva, the University of Birmingham is delighted to offer postgraduate scholarships to outstanding candidates from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.

What is the Aviva Scholarship Programme?

A joint partnership between Aviva and 11 of the UK’s leading universities, the Aviva Scholarship Programmebrings together two of the UK’s world-leading sectors – education and insurance – to promote British education and international exchanges.  We are delighted to offer 10 scholarships, worth 20% of the tuition fees, to students from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam applying to any taught masters degrees at the University of Birmingham, UK campus only.

The scholarship award is to be applied as a 20% tuition fee discount applied to a full Masters degree fee. For example an average Masters tuition fee of £16,290 will be reduced by £3,258 for those students who win this scholarship.

Who can apply for an Aviva Scholarship?

In order to be eligible, candidates must:

  • Be an Aviva customer (or be the child of an Aviva customer) and meet the Aviva criteria outlined on the Aviva Scholarship webpage.
  • Be a student from one of the following eligible countries (i.e. be classified as domiciled in): P.R. China (including Hong Kong, SAR of China), Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan (ROC) and Vietnam.
  • Be classified as an ‘international’ / ‘overseas’ (non-EU) student for fees purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship.
  • Have received an offer of admission from the University of Birmingham for a full-time Masters degree starting in September 2019 based at the University of Birmingham UK campus and have accepted this offer by 31 July 2019 (note this scholarship cannot be deferred to subsequent intakes/years).
  • Be on track to meet or exceed any academic conditions attached to their offer of admission.
  • Have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living in the UK during their studies plus any visa or travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.
  • Not be in receipt of a full government scholarship or alternative full scholarship award.

How can I apply for an Aviva Scholarship?

  • To apply for the scholarship students will need to have accepted an offer of admission from the University and have submitted a separate application for the scholarship on the Aviva Scholarship website by the deadline of 31 July 2019.
  • Complete the Aviva Scholarship application.
  • The selection of candidates will be based on applicants’ demonstration of excellence in their academic background, extra-curricular activities, or significant achievements gained through work or through volunteering/service to others. This will be assessed using candidates’ university applications.

Capacity Strengthening Grants for Youth-led Organizations in Africa; Hivos Southern African Hub aims towards an open and green society, inspired by humanist values such as freedom, dignity, responsibility and curiosity.

Hivos in partnership with SIDA and Ford Foundation manages the Regional Fund on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

The Regional SRHR Fund was established in recognition of the critical need for a strategic regional response to collectively address the myriad of SRHR issues in Southern Africa with particular attention to young people and adolescents as well as to provide an opportunity for donors to coordinate their support to SRHR in the region.

The Fund currently focuses its efforts on Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR) in east and southern Africa (ESA). To do so, it supports civil society responses to a diversity of ASRHR issues that are relevant at both the national and regional levels using grant-making as the main mechanism of support. The Regional SRHR Fund seeks to support efforts that advocate for or take actions that can lead to improvements in the availability and accessibility of ASRH services and rights for young people and adolescents in the ESA with a focus on the most vulnerable and marginalized people including young women and girls.

This call for concept notes will focus on Objective

1: Capacity Strengthening of Youth-led organizations (both established and emerging).

Funding Information

 

  • Capacity building is needed to facilitate genuine youth participation and leadership, to enable youth to gather and control the knowledge about their SRHR needs and issues as well as to build the foundation for a cadre of youth-led organizations that can sustain their efforts over the longer term.To achieve this, the Fund will support organizational capacity strengthening of up to 20 youth-led organizations over the lifetime of the ASRHR program.
  • During 2018, the first cohort of youth-led organizations were identified and absorbed into the Capacity Strengthening program. Through this call, the Fund seeks to identify the second cohort of approximately 8 youth-led organizations to include in the program.
  • For the first round of selection, only a concept note should be submitted for evaluation.
  • Youth-led organizations whose concept note is approved will be invited to submit a full project proposal. Successful organizations will receive comprehensive capacity strengthening of their organizations, and project funds of up to $25 000.Project funds will be provided to selected youth-led organizations to undertake innovative

    projects at to address the key challenges that young people and adolescents face in accessing sexual and reproductive health and services (SRHR).

    Organizational Development Support

    Organizational transformation is an intensive process and the RSRHR Fund and can be demanding for all involved in the process.

    For this reason, the Fund selects a small number of youth-led organizations per year and works through Organizational Development Specialists dedicated to each organization over a 12-month period to achieve their transformation goals and build robust and well-functioning youth-led and/or youth-focused organizations.

    Organizational Development Specialists will support youth-led organizations in the areas of:

  • Organizational values, vision and mission
  • Governance and organizational organograms
  • Program management expertise
  • Financial Management Systems (FMS) and procedures
  • Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems and procedures
  • Organizational policies and procedures
  • Fund raising/donor mapping and writing proposals
  • Experience of working on ASRHR programs
  • Experience of advocacy on ASRHR and related human rights issues
  • Ethics and values of working within the ASRHR sector
  • The Fund recognizes that capacity needs will vary across organizations and support will be needs-based and assessed on a case-to-case basis.Geographic Focus

    East and Southern Africa (ESA) with a special focus on Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

    Eligible Organizations

    Funding is limited is therefore the following organizations are encouraged to apply:

  • Youth-led organizations led by youth 35 years and younger working on SRHR in the focus countries (regional organizations or organizations with a regional focus are welcome to apply).
  • Youth-led organizations with clear value statements on diversity, inclusion and full SRHR rights for all;
  • Young female-led and youth-led organizations valuing feminist approaches to SRHR;
  • Youth-led organizations reaching the poorest or most vulnerable adolescent and youth population to increase their access to SRHR;
  • Youth-led organizations with a key focus on breaking down barriers/challenge social and gender norms around Adolescent and Youth SRHR;
  • Youth-led organizations with clearly identified gaps for organizational development and a willingness to improve on such gaps.Additional Information
  • The organization should be able to demonstrate an understanding of SRHR in the region and the connection to young people and adolescents.
  • Submission of a concept note does not automatically guarantee funding.
  • Review of concept notes will be done by a Selection Committee that will review concepts against the set selection criteria for an invitation to apply for project funds.Concept Note Submission

    The Fund is seeking concept notes no longer than 4 pages which will be considered for selection to apply for project funding and inclusion into the Capacity Strengthening program.

he Office of the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania dates back to the year 1961 when the first Prime Minister of Tanganyika, the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere, was appointed. According to Government Notice Number 415 of 1st December 1961 the function of the office then was to advice the Governor-General on all matters relating to the Government of Tanganyika.

The Office of the Prime Minister was retained as the head of government business when Tanganyika became a republic on 9th December 1962 with the President as Head of State.

BNET was founded in 1992 as a procurement office before becoming a Project Office in 1996. In 2014, the office received a Charter from the Provincial Council and separated its activities from the Kenya office and changed its name to Don Bosco Networks Tanzania.

Our approach: DBNET coordinates the Salesians’ development work in Tanzania by advising, evaluating, planning and managing projects across Tanzania to achieve sustainable development.

How we work: Over the years, DBNET has established public and private partnerships to implement its projects, an important factor that ensures sustainability of its interventions. In order to implement the various projects DBNET:

Identifies the development needs in the areas under the Salesian Influence
Draws up project proposals to satisfy the identified
needs;
Manages financial resources outside the country to implement projects with the support of Salesian NGO
networks abroad
Trains local partners in Project Management
Monitors and assesses the implemented projects
Promotes strategic planning process involved in Salesian projects

Mbali na hilo, Lusinde amesema ndani ya CCM hakuna mgogoro isipokuwa kuna watu  wachache wanaoulumbana na mtu mmoja mmiliki magazeti nchini,  jambo ambalo haliwezi kuitwa mgogoro ndani ya chama hicho..

”Nataka niseme kuwa wazee wangu wamepotoka kwa kutoa waraka  huo; walitakiwa wamtafute kijana wa kumjibu Musiba, au wao wenyewe watafute press (mkutano wa habari) wamjibu Musiba siyo kuandika waraka utakaobaki maishani mwao kwamba viongozi wa kisiasa wa ngazi za juu,  Kinana na Makamba,  waliuandika kumlalamikia Musiba, vitu ambavyo naona vimewafedhehesha sana.” alisema Lusinde.

Waziri Mkuu Azindua Safari Za Reli Ya Tanga -moshi....Apokea Treni Ya Kwanza Yenye Tani 800 Za Saruji

WAZIRI MKUU Kassim Majaliwa amepokea treni ya kwanza ya mizigo kutoka Tanga ikiwa ni ishara ya uzinduzi wa reli ya kutoka Tanga hadi Moshi.

Waziri Mkuu amepokea treni hiyo leo (Jumamosi, Julai 20, 2019) ambayo iliwasili saa 4:30 asubuhi kwenye stesheni ya Moshi na kukata utepe wa uzinduzi saa 4:32, kisha akapanda kwenye treni hiyo saa 4:33.

Akizungumza na mamia ya wakazi wa mji wa Moshi na wengine kutoka mkoa jirani wa Tanga, Waziri Mkuu amesema amefurahi kupokea treni hiyo yenye mabehewa 20 yaliyokuwa na mzigo wa tani 800 za saruji kutoka kampuni ya Saruji ya Tanga.

Amesema kukamilika kwa kipande cha reli ya Tanga - Moshi na kuanza kutoa huduma leo hii, ni mwendelezo wa utekelezaji wa dhamira ya Serikali ya Awamu ya Tano kuhakikisha miundombinu ya usafiri na usafirishaji inafaidika na fursa ya kijiografia iliyopo nchini kwa kutoa huduma za usafiri na uchukuzi wa reli kwa uhakika, usalama na kwa gharama nafuu.

“Wataalamu wa masuala ya usafirishaji duniani wanaeleza kuwa matumizi ya reli kwa ajili ya usafirishaji wa shehena, hupunguza gharama za bidhaa kwa asilimia kati ya 30 na 40. Vilevile, matumizi ya reli huwa ni kichocheo kikubwa cha ukuaji wa uchumi kutokana na ukweli kwamba, kupitia usafiri wa reli unaweza kusafirisha mizigo mingi kwa haraka na kwa wakati mmoja kwenda kwa mlaji,” amesema.

Amesema kama ilivyo kwa mradi wa SGR, njia ya reli ya Tanga - Moshi yenye urefu wa km. 353, ukarabati wake unagharamiwa na Serikali ya Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania na umetekelezwa na wataalamu wazawa.

“Kwa msingi huo, naagiza viongozi na watendaji wa mikoa na maeneo ambayo yanapitiwa na reli hii, kwa kushirikiana na Shirika la Reli Tanzania, waanze mara moja kampeni ya kutoa elimu kwa umma kuhusu usalama lakini pia kuwakumbusha wananchi kuwa walinzi wa miundombinu hii muhimu ya reli,” amesema.

Akitoa salamu kwa niaba ya makatibu wakuu wa vyama 19 vya siasa nchini, Katibu Mkuu wa ADC, Bw. Hassan Doyo alisema kufufuliwa kwa treni hiyo ya mizigo kutawasaidia wachimbaji wa madini walioko Makanya, Same ambao walikuwa wakipata taabu ya kukodisha malori na kusafirisha bidhaa zao hadi kiwanda cha saruji cha Tanga.

Alisema reli hiyo itawanufaisha pia wachimbaji wa Kabuku, wilayani Handeni. "Wachimbaji wa madini ya chuma walioko Kabuku, walikuwa wanapata shida ya kusafirisha mizigo yao kwa barabara hadi Mtwara, gharama ziko juu mno. Lakini sasa watapata ufumbuzi baada ya reli hii kufufuliwa," alisema.

Mapema, akitoa taarifa kuhusu mradi huo, Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa Shirika la Reli Tanzania (TRC), Bw. Masanja Kadogosa alisema makadirio ya gharama za kufufua reli hiyo kutoka Korogwe hadi Arusha yalikuwa sh. bilioni 14 lakini mpaka sasa wametumia sh. bilioni 5.7.

Alisema ujenzi huo ulifanywa na wafanyakazi wazawa 525 kutoka TRC wakiwemo vibarua 466, wahandisi 12 na mafundi wa reli na nyanja nyingine 47. "Hawa watapata ajira ya kudumu na ndiyo wataisimamia hii reli," alisema.

Alisema reli ya mizigo ilikuwa haifanyi kazi kwa miaka 12 iliyopita na huduma ya kusafirisha abiria ilisitishwa tangu mwaka 1994.

Hafla huyo ilihudhuriwa na Naibu Mawaziri wa Uchukuzi, TAMISEMI, Wabunge, watendaji wa Serikali, wawakilishi wa vyama vya siasa na wananchi mbalimbali.

Mahakama yapendekeza makosa yote kuwa na dhamana

Mahakama ya Tanzania inapendekeza makosa yote kuwa na dhamana kwa kuwa hatua hii itasaidia kuondoa msongamano wa Mahabusu kwenye Magereza mbalimbali nchini.
 
Akizungumza na Waandishi wa habari mara baada ya kuwakubali na kuwaapisha wanasheria waliomaliza mafunzo ya Sheria kwa vitendo kuwa Mawakili, jijini Dar es salaam leo, Jaji Mkuu wa Tanzania Mhe. Prof. Ibrahim Hamis Juma ameyataja baadhi ya mapendekezo ya Mahakama yatakayosaidia kuondoa msongamano magerezani kuwa ni pamoja na upelelezi wa kesi kumalizika mapema.
 
Jaji Mkuu alisema Mahakama imekuwa ikilaumiwa kwa kuchelewesha kesi mahakamani lakini kinachosababisha kuchelewa kwa mashauri hayo ni upelelezi kutokukamilika kwa wakati.
 
“Kuchelewa kumalizika kwa shauri Mahakamani wa kulaumiwa ni wapelelezi na siyo Mahakama”, alisema Jaji Mkuu.
 
Alisema pendekezo jingine ni sheria kutamka wazi muda wa kufanya upelelezi yaani ikifika muda fulani upelelezi haujakamilika basi shauri hilo lifutwe mahakamani.
 
Alisema sheria zimeegemea zaidi kwenye adhabu kubwa huku akitolea mfano wa mashauri ya mauaji, matumizi ya dawa za kulevya, Uhujumu uchumi na ubakaji. Aliongeza kuwa mashauri haya yana adhabu kubwa na upelelezi wake huchukua muda mrefu.
 
Alisema ili kutatua changamoto ya msongamano wa mahabusu magerezani, Mahakama ya Tanzania pia inapendekeza masharti ya dhamana kulegezwa na kushauri kutumiwa kwa vitambulisho vya Taifa kwenye dhamana.
 
“Hivi sasa wananchi wengi wana vitambulisho vya Taifa ambavyo vinaweza kutumika kama dhamana bila ya kumtaka mwananchi aonyeshe mali”, alisema Prof. Juma.
 
Jaji Mkuu alitoa mapendekezo hayo ya Mahakama alipokuwa akijibu swali lililoulizwa na waandishi wa habari waliotaka kufahamu Mamlaka ya kutoa Mahabusu gerezani. Kwa mujibu wa Jaji Mkuu, Mahakama ndiyo yenye Mamlaka.
 
Hivi karibuni, Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania Mhe. Dkt. John Pombe Magufuli aliagiza kufanyika kwa uhakiki ili kubaini mahabusu na wafungwa waliobambikiwa kesi hatimaye kuachiwa huru. Watakaonufaika na matokeo ya uhakiki huo ni mahabusu wenye kesi ndogondogo na wafungwa watoto, wazee, na makundi mengine yenye mahitaji maalum.
 
Jumla ya wanasheria 720 wamekubaliwa na kuapishwa kuwa Mawakili wakiwemo Majaji nane wa Mahakama ya Rufani, Majaji saba wa Mahakama Kuu ya Tanzania, Majaji wastaafu watatu, Manaibu Wasajili kadhaa, Mahakimu pamoja na wanasheria wengine.
 
Hii ni mara ya 60 kwa Mahakama ya Tanzania kuwakubali na kuwaapisha Mawakili wapya. Kwa mara ya kwanza Mahakama ya Tanzania iliwakubali na kuwaapisha Mawakili wapya mwaka 1986.

Rais Magufuli kuwa mgeni rasmi sikukuu ya Nanenane

Rais  Magufuli anatarajiwa kuwa mgeni rasmi katika kilele cha maadhimisho ya sikukuu ya wakulima (Nanenane) yatakayofunguliwa na Makamu wa Rais mkoani Simiyu.

Waziri wa Kilimo, Japhet Hasunga alisema baada ya ufunguzi utakaofanywa na Makamu wa Rais, Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan, pia Agosti 3, mwaka huu Waziri Mkuu, Kassim Majaliwa atatembelea maonesho hayo yatakayofanyika katika viwanja vya Nyakabindi, Bariadi.

“Kwa taarifa hii, napenda kutoa mwito kwa wadau wote wa sekta za kilimo, ufugaji, uvuvi, ushirika, maliasili na mazingira pamoja na wananchi wote kushiriki kwa dhati katika maonesho ya mwaka huu,” alisema Hasunga.

Waziri Hasunga aliwataka wadau kuzingatia kwamba mahudhurio yao yatakuwa ya manufaa kwani watajionea mbinu za kuboresha shughuli mbalimbali zinazowahusu wanunuzi na wafanyabiashara watapata fursa ya kutangaza bidhaa zao kwenye maonesho hayo yatakayoanza Agosti Mosi hadi Agosti 8 katika kanda zote nane.

Nape Nnauye: Wanaodhani wanaweza kumzuia Rais Magufuli, wanapoteza muda wao

Mbunge Nape Nnauye amesema wanaodhani kuwa wanaweza kumkwamisha Rais John Magufuli kugombea urais mwakani wanapoteza muda wao.

Nape ambaye alikuwa Katibu wa Itikadi na Uenezi wa CCM amesema kuwa ni utaratibu wa chama hicho kuwa mtu akishapitishwa kugombea awamu ya kwanza, basi ni wazi kuwa atapitishwa kugombea awamu ya pili, na wala jambo hilo halina mjadala.

Amesema kuwa kuna makundi mawali ndani ya chama hicho yanayozungumzia suala la urais 2020. Amesema kundi la kwanzi ni la wageni (wahamiaji au wasiofahamu taratibu) ambao wanadhani kuwa Rais anaweza akazuiwa kugombea awamu ya pili.

Amesema kundi la pili ni lile la wanaofahamu taratibu za chama lakini wameamua kuwa wanafiki kuzungumzia jambo hilo.

Akizungumzia sauti zinazodaiwa kuwa ni yake akizungumza na Abdulrahman Kinana, aliyekuwa Katibu Mkuu wa CCM, amesema kuwa jambo hilo lina ujinai ndani yake hivyo, liachwe kwa vyombo husika.

MUME AMTAFUNA MKEWE MDOMO NA SIKIO

Mwanamke wa miaka 39 mkaazi wa Tanga Kona, Kenya anauguza majeraha baaada ya mume wake kumnyofoa mdomo na sikio kufuatia ugomvi baina yao.

Jackline Kerubo, mama wa watoto sita, alisema alitaka kwenda kuchuma mboga katika shamba la jirani yake lakini mume wake alimkataza.

Kerubo ambaye ni mume wake aliyefunga naye ndoa miaka 21 iliyopita, anasema kwa sasa anahofia maisha yake pamoja na watoto wake.

Alisema jirani yake aliingilia kati baada ya mume wake kuapa kumpa fundisho . Hata hivyo baada ya kipigo hicho Mume wake alitoweka nyumbani.

Akizungumza na waandishi wa habari, alisema mume wake alitenda unyama huo akiwa jikoni kwa kumpiga kichwani na baadae kumtafuna mdomo na sikio.

Mkuu wa Polisi Maryline Oundo aliwaomba wanandoa kutafuta ushauri wanapokuwa na mizozo na kuitaka jamii kutoa taarifa za kesi zinazokiuka haki za binadamu ili kupata msaada sambamba na watuhumiwa kuchukuliwa hatua.

Bi Kerubo kwa sasa anapatiwa hifadhi katika kituo cha polisi Nambale wakati maafisa polisi tayari wameanza kazi ya kumtafuta mtuhumiwa.
